Quick Winter Checks
- Confirm thermostat mode is HEAT and target setpoint is higher than room temp.
- Replace/clean the air filter; confirm supply/return vents are open.
- Inspect outdoor unit—clear snow/ice and debris; allow at least 2–3 feet of clearance.
- Listen during defrost—steam and a brief fan pause can be normal.
- Check breaker/fuse at the panel and disconnect (only if safe and you know how).
