What to Expect on HVAC Replacement Day in North Carolina

No surprises. Here’s exactly how the day goes—from arrival to final walkthrough— so your family can plan around the work.

Crew replacing HVAC equipment

Before We Arrive

  • Permits ordered (where required) and equipment staged.
  • Protective floor runners and drop cloths packed.
  • We’ll text/call with an arrival window and crew size.

Typical Timeline (Single System)

  1. 8–9 AM: Arrival, home protection, and job review.
  2. 9–11 AM: Recover refrigerant, disconnect, and remove old equipment.
  3. 11–2 PM: Set outdoor unit, air handler/furnace, new pad/stand; braze & pressure test line set.
  4. 2–3 PM: Vacuum, charge, wire controls; update thermostat and safety devices.
  5. 3–4 PM: Startup commissioning—superheat/subcooling, static pressure, airflow, and leak checks.
  6. 4–5 PM: Homeowner walkthrough, warranty registration details, and cleanup.

Ductwork & Add-Ons

Minor duct repairs are common and add 1–3 hours. Larger redesigns or adding zoning/IAQ accessories may extend the project into a second day. We’ll outline this upfront during your proposal.

After We Leave

  • Expect a slight “new system” smell for a day or two—normal burn-off.
  • You’ll receive digital copies of paperwork and optional maintenance plan details.
  • City/county inspection (if required) is coordinated and scheduled.

Triangle Tip

Summer installs book fast. If your system is limping along, replacing in the shoulder seasons (spring/fall) can mean faster scheduling and potential savings.
